Push the handle to left or right for turns. Do not twist the handle.
Walk with slightly bent knees and keep your head level without up and down movement.
Hold the brake and stand on the Halfbike. Try to balance yourself. Keep the center of your body over the Crankset. (Center of pedal arms) Imagine there is a high bike saddle on top of the Crankset. This practice will help you balance when you ride the Halfbike.
Practice Locations
A level or near level open field is an ideal place to practice for beginners.
Near empty parking lot is a great place to practice. Choose a time before an anchor store of a shopping center is open.
A park with wide open paved trails or open space.
Practice
Safety first. Helmet and Bike gloves. Just in case you fall.
Try to ride the Halfbike in straight line first. Do not worry about turning. Balancing on the Halfbike is your initial focus. Keep your center of your body over the Crankset. Do not lean forward and back. Stand straight with slightly bent knee and relax. Imagine you are sitting on a high bike saddle.
Push the handle left or right and try to make a large circle turn. If you are in a parking lot, try 4 or 5 parking space diameter turns in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions.
After comfortable with larger circle turns, try 3 parking space diameter turns then 2 parking space diameter turns.
Try figure 8 turns.
Ride the Halfbike in open level trails.
Ready for the Road
Take the Halfbike anywhere that you feel comfortable.
